Personal Journey - A Mixed Media Exploration

Tell your story! In this 10-week workshop, we’ll use vintage paper and ephemera to transform ordinary blocks of wood into beautiful multi-dimensional collages that bring to life our individual and shared experiences, memories, hopes, and dreams. 

We’ll pull from my extensive collection of vintage paper, envelopes, images and other beautiful things to find materials and images that speak to you, then use a range of collage techniques to tell your story. We’ll focus on:

• Basic paper layering and gluing techniques

• Creating effective compositions on and across multiple pieces 

• Selecting and using images to craft a cohesive story

• Transferring images using a simple Xerox transfer technique

• Methods for finishing and protecting your work

You’ll leave the class with several finished pieces and skills you can use in your own art practice. Final projects will be featured at a 2022 show at Community School of Music and Arts’ Mohr Gallery.

All materials will be provided.
